About DOKUGAKU
DOKUGAKU is a self-learning center that helps children to build their foundation of success. DOKUGAKU is form by a group of educators who holds the strong belief that self-learning, is the key for children to achieve more on their own when they step into adulthood life.
Our program is specially designed to instill the concept of self-learning into children daily lives. The program consists of 15 levels which cater to primary school children age range from 7-12yrs old. Children will start with a comfortable starting point that suits their level of ability without taking age or grade into consideration.
Our Aspiration
By today, there are still many complex and unsolved problems in our society, and soon, the world will be taken over by our next generation. Our society need innovators and problem-solvers who can think critically and creatively to make a change in the society or to solve problems that have not been solved by our generation. The problem is, how?
DOKUGAKU believes that by cultivating self-learning skills during childhood period is crucial in creating the next future talents. Our society problems differ from generation to generation, but the qualities needed to solve them remain unchanged from world’s end to world’s end. By keeping the habit of self-learning can prepare children for the real-world problems that they may encounter in their daily lives as they tend to identify and explore the problem independently. A successful learner in the modern society should be able to integrate knowledge from different sources, educate and self-educate throughout the life in order to remain competitive in our fast-paced society.
Eventually, when a person who possess the ability to learn independently are also able to solve problem themselves when they faced difficult challenges and learn from the problems. With DOKUGAKU new education system, we hope that we can nurture our children into lifelong learners and problem solvers who are able to independently carve out a path for themselves in life.
What is Self-Learning?
Self-learning is a process, a method and a philosophy of education- in which a learner acquires knowledge by his or her own efforts and develops the ability for inquiry and critical evaluation. When we talk about current education, we often relate to a teacher, a brick-and-mortar facility (usually a school) and a group of students that gather together at this facility during specific periods of the day to learn from a teacher. The teacher will then take control on what should be learned and act as a role of knowledge dispensers and students as repositories.
